La Trinité-sur-Mer

Eric Tabarly chose La Trinité sur Mer to build Pen Duick II, the boat that made him famous in 1964. It has since become the pinnacle of sailing thanks to the racing dynamic and the many sailors who have come here to learn the ropes and win prizes.

All the big names in ocean racing are regular users of this naturally sheltered marina. Well situated at the back of an estuary, it opens onto Quiberon Bay, and offers ideal racing water (500 crews at Easter for the “Spi” regatta) and a perfect training base.

The natural conditions also make it a large oyster-farming area and it has a number of beautiful sandy beaches. As can be seen from the many megaliths, the site has been favoured for a very long time. Today people like to talk about the race of the day at a good restaurant overlooking the marina or in one of the quieter little streets that make the old “Trinitain” village so charming.
